The Australian Governments main reason for funding child care is to meet the child care needs of as many Australian families as possible, it is therefore appropriate to have Priority of Access Guidelines for allocating places and which must be adhered to by all Child Care Services. These guidelines apply to centre-based Long Day Care (LDC), IHC, Family Day Care (FDC) and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services.The Australian Government’s Priority of Access Guidelines is as follows;Priority 1: A child at risk of serious abuse or neglectPriority 2: A child of a single parent who satisfies, or of parents who both satisfy, the work, training, study test under section 14 of the A New Tax System (Family Assistance) Act 1999Priority 3: Any other child.Within these main categories, priority should also be given to the following children:
